Evoluzione

“While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats.”

Mark Twain

“If we are going to teach creation science as an alternative to evolution, then we should also teach the stork theory as an alternative to biological reproduction.”

Judith Hayes

“The reason why the universe is eternal is that it does not live for itself; it gives life to others as it transforms”

Lao Tzu

“Today, the theory of evolution is an accepted fact for everyone but a fundamentalist minority, whose objections are based not on reasoning but on doctrinaire adherence to religious principles”

James D. Watson

“Most species do their own evolving, making it up as they go along, which is the way Nature intended. And this is all very natural and organic and in tune with mysterious cycles of the cosmos, which believes that there’s nothing like millions of years of really frustrating trial and error to give a species moral fiber and, in some cases, backbone.”

Terry Pratchett

“The evolution of the brain not only overshot the needs of prehistoric man, it is the only example of evolution providing a species with an organ which it does not know how to use”

Arthur Koestler

“After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked—as I am surprisingly often—why I bother to get up in the mornings.”

Richard Dawkins

What wonderful photos and qoutes! Somehow in my evolution the creativity and artistic gene was replaced with the insomnia and forgetfulness gene. Sigh.

I'm celebrating my birthday today with all my cyber-friends. Just a small affair as times are hard, you know, credit crunch and all that jazz. You're more than welcomed to pop by and enjoy a little jam sessions: piano, guitar and vocals.

Greetings from London.

Ah, but there is also much to be said for "interventionism," which falls somewhere in between creationism and evolution (a subject that fascinates me endlessly!) Scientifically speaking, evolution as the sole proprietor of human development still remains a theory, especially in regard to unexplained quantum leaps and evolutionary dead-ends. There is more in heaven and earth.... oh, don't get me started!

Great photo spread, btw!

I'm currently reading Richard Dawkins because the last few months have made me despair that a majority of people no longer value critical thinking and an incredible body of scientific knowledge. Reading his books makes me feel less alone and crazy.

Seeing these gorgeous photos with these wonderful quotes is a great place to be right now. Thank you.
