Fairy Tales

I read to my daughter before going to bed but lately, she has been making up fairy tales to put me to sleep. It usually consists of a her being a princess (for those not wanting their daughters to be princesses, it is a loosing battle) living in a pink castle with a pink horse. She has a lot of toys but she feels lonely. So, she sets out on her pink horse with her little cousin who has a yellow horse, and is also a princess, into the woods. They find a crying baby, who is a prince (her brother) and they take him to live with them. They all live happily ever after, the end.

Love it! Their imagination is endless.
Princess Maëlle would love that story too (yes I lost the battle too!).

A budding novelist maybe? It sounds like she's happy with her baby brother from that fairy tale I think.

I agree about the princess part. If you want a tomboy, she will be a princess. If you want a princess, she will never, EVER wear a dress for you. The end.

that's really lovely...why is it that little girls want to be princesses? is it inherent in them or does it come from the fairy tales we tell? interesting to ponder...
