New York State of Mind
Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighbourhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind
I've seen all the movie stars
In their fancy cars and their limousines
Been high in the Rockies under the evergreens
But I know what I'm needing
And I don't want to waste more time
I'm in a New York state of mind
It was so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the rhythm and blues
But now I need a little give and take
The New York Times, The Daily News
It comes down to reality
And it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide
Don't care if it's Chinatown or on Riverside
I don't have any reasons
I've left them all behind
I'm in a New York state of mind

Wow does this ever bring back memories. Have you ever been? Growing up across the river in NJ I never really had an appreciation of NYC until the past couple years and after having spent time in Boston. To me, NYC is like Boston's raunchy sister and I say that with love - speaking of love - I love that you picked New York State of Mind by Billy Joel to represent. He's as NYC as they come.
I try to go every year. My heart is always there.
I've been thinking of taking the girls NYC.
this is the second blog today i've visited that had a new york photo trailer. i went to NY, 4 years ago took hundreds of photos and wish i could go and do it all over again. it was one of the most exciting trips i have ever taken. i was on my own a lot of the time and couldn't believe how memory can be stirred by the visual and storied associations NY has for me and so many others. thanks for the trip yoli!

I've never, I repeat NEVER been there.

I 'm coming with you ! NYC is such a special city ...no words to describe it. I know I am in NYC when I hear police 's siren and I don't know there is a special noise. It reminds me wonderful souvenir : I loved taking the train in POughkepsie and looking out of the window at the Hudson Valley , then getting to Grand central and wlaking on the 42 nd street
I was an au-pair in 1990-91 in NYC and haven't been back since...I want to though, very very much...thank you for sharing these.
