Every Man's Dream

Every woman's eyesore and nightmare. Yes, my husband got his dream of a large TV. I now house a TV that is larger than my living room. Why do men do this?

My husband surprised me with one two years ago for "my" birthday. ;);) And now, I actually don't know how I lived without it.

Willow you are a better woman than I.

Well, ours is not as big as some.
(42 inch) But it was a huge jump up from the little 21 inch screen we had for years. I love classic movies and they look absolutely amazing on the HD screen. So, I decided we'd keep it.

We watched TV (well, downloaded "TV") on Mike's laptop until his mom handed down an actual (very small) flat screen. I have never seen Mike buy a TV. Fortunately , we're on the same page as far as TV goes...we only watch cable at his parents condo when we're on vacation. It's kinda fun when you don't normally have it - preserves the novelty.

IS Mike looking for a second wife? He is the dream man.

Can you think creataivly, and put a curtain of "screen system" in front of the Monster?

My condolences,
Constance

Must design a card for such sad occasions!

Is it sitting right next to the unnecessarily large and completely outdated stereo system? "Our" wall of sound is in what I call "cojones corner" as it seems to be less about music (especially since it's unplugged) and more about manhood.

poor eyesight or compensation?

Yoli said...

No, it is not a compensation issue with him. Trust me. It is the need for a large TV issue, that men are pre-programmed to have.

Oh Kristin you are cracking me up with your cojones corner!!!
Kerri, you mean to tell me that aside from Maia's husband there is another man uninterested in Sports and large TVs? Where do you people find them???

Oh dear......Can you get him to watch it in the basement?:)

PS I got two of Laurences votive candle holders. Each for a single candle. Her work is expensive (about $95 per candleholder) but so beautifully crafted. She has a 10 candle holder that is just amazing that I want. It is something like $700. But it would look just incredible in the middle of a dining table - all inlaid. My blanket sales have dried up and so will have to wait for that baby!!!

My sympathies - big TVs overwhelm my senses.

My hubby bought a large TV last year. Joke is on him though, because Kerri is the only one that watches it!
The very few times hubby has wanted to watch his TV, Kerri wins out and all we ever watch is the children's educational channel.
There is something to be said about huge Sesame Street characters taking over our living room. (It says we are parents!).

RANT: As the unintentional owner of a 60" Sony rear projection screen tv, Sony receiver, 36" custom Klipsch surround sound speakers, 150 CD player, I'm no closer to knowing the answer than you are. This disgusting monstrosity was bought as a "gift" for me (who doesn't even WATCH tv) and stands in glaring testimony not only to my soon to be x's obscene consumerism, but as perhaps the most telling monument to his extreme level of disassociation from me and my actual wants/needs.
