Enchantment

...The dreams of childhood - its airy fables; its graceful, beautiful, humane, impossible adornments of the world beyond: so good to be believed in once, so good to be remembered when outgrown...

~Charles Dickens

Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.

~Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince, 1943

I have not been feeling well, my blood pressure has been high and I have been sick from the excessive heat and humidity. I have had to rest and take care of myself. I did two things to lift my mood. I bought Maddie's delightful photograph, and re-read The Little Prince. I feel so much better, art does heal. Tomorrow I will go to the Doctor so he can titrate my pills.

What heals you?

Look who woke up.

What heals me? Sometimes it is pasta. Sometimes it is that herb pack that I warm up and put on my belly. Sometimes it is drugs...

Hi Yoli,

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I hope you are better soon.

Thank you for the lovely quotes and images to share.

What heals me? A bite of dark chocolate melting slowly in my mouth, listening to Chopin's Nocturnes, watching Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood, and smelling lavender.

Art, music, laughter and a fresh cool breeze...and sometimes chocolate.

Hope you are feeling wonderful very soon! :)

I"m so sorry you've been feeling sick. I have the opposite...very LOW blood pressure. But I do suffer in the heat. I lose all my energy and my head gets muddled, which makes it hard to accomplish anything... Can't wait for China in August! hah.

What heals me? Fresh ginger. Thoughtless sleep. Twenty minutes in a hammock. Hiking far from the madding crowd. Lavender-scented sheets.

My garden, early in the morning (I love to see how each leaf variety looks with dew on it) with a steamy cup of coffee. It's absolute peace, and can carry me through the day.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Yoli,

I am sorry you haven't been yourself.
Hope the doctor thinks you are doing better.

Shoes, really do heal me! And, those red ones in the image would help me for a long time! I LOVE THEM! I have always loved red shoes!

PS. Watching old shows of Bewitched or Gilligan's Island always makes me feel better. It reminds me when I was home sick as a child and let mommy take care of me!

Feel better. I love a cup of yummy tea and a good book, curled up in
a comfy bed with my cats and dog all around me :-).

Deep, deep relaxation heals me. Benjamin Iobst's Seven Metal Singing Bowls of Tibet helps put me there. I swear by the healing power of this CD. That, and a sea salt & baking soda baths. Sounds like you could use a cool one. Feel better, Yola. Be good to yourself :)

Dear Yoli,
I am thinking of you. That you will feel centered and whole!!
Have you ever heard of Joan Borysenko's book on tape "The Power of the Mind to Heal"? Dr. Borysenko studied this phenomenon at Harvard for 20 years. Many hospitals and Drs. have implemented her findings. There is a meditation at the end of this tape. It is powerful. I will do it today. Both for you and myself and our world.

Beautiful photograph by Maddie!
Guaranteed to make a person smile!
Which reminds me. You know in the book Eat Pray Love, where the Balinese priest tells Elizabeth to sit in meditation with a smile on her face? To smile on her Liver? Did you read this book? Well, I smile on different parts of my body too.

Yoli, I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well and hope the new meds work quickly to bring you back to good health.
As for what heals me, it depends. Sometimes mind over matter, sometimes the help of a doctor and medicines, sometimes faith and prayer.
But what heals me most of the time is laughter.

Dear Yoli, I hope you feel better and yourself again.
My best medicine right now is a glass of wine, some dark chocolate watching Pride & Prejudice or other romantic movies. But when Maëlle is here it's definitely her hugs and smile and laugh.
I thought a lot about you yesterday, I went to see Mongols. It's was just amazing!

Hello, yoli, thanks for popping by the other day.

Ahhh, 'The Little Prince'! The book one ought to read when one is a child, then one is an adolescent, again when one is a grown-up and then when one enters the twilight of one's existence. I once was in a production of 'The Little Prince' at my former university, Pedagogic Institue 'Enrique José Varona' and I played the part of the guy who lights the lamps and puts it out... continuously.

Thanks for bringing back memories, yoli. And I wish you better.
