Listen: if everyone must suffer, in order to buy eternal harmony with their suffering, pray tell me what have children got to do with it? It’s quite incomprehensible why they should have to suffer, and why they should buy harmony with their suffering.

Wow, powerful quote. Lovely banner image too Yoli. You always choose dramatic and striking images...I love them. xoxo

i was here yesterday yoli and watched the video about chen chao. i couldn't stop thinking about it and i was also thinking about you. of how you must have a powerful sense of social justice and personal responsibility. that you do not gasp and turn away from that which is almost too much to bear. you seem to do what is difficult to honor those that suffer so deeply. i respect you very much.
i assume this small child has some condition that prevents him from being able to interact with the world without a bubble of protection. and yet look at all that love written across the sky of his world :)

No Robin, the child is perfectly fine. I just used this image to accompany Dostoevsky's words. I worry about kids and what is happening to women around the world. Either for economic or religious reasons, they are the ones made to suffer. I blog a lot about nonsense and pretty images but from time to time, I slip in issues that are important to me.

One of many Dostoevsky's musings (ha, isn't that the name of your blog? :-D) on religion. 'The Idiot' and especially 'Crime and Punishment' deal with the same subject matter. But 'The Brothers...' is still up there with religious questioning.

Greetings from London.

Amen. How I wish we lived in a world of equality and no greed, crime or injustices.

i am glad to hear this Yoli. perhaps my own spirit was feeling the pain of the world's children so i saw what was in my own heart when looking at the photo.
