Scarlett: [pleads with Rhett as he is about to leave to join the Confederate Army] Oh, Rhett! Please, don't go! You can't leave me! Please! I'll never forgive you!

Rhett Butler: I'm not asking you to forgive me. I'll never understand or forgive myself. And if a bullet gets me, so help me, I'll laugh at myself for being an idiot. There's one thing I do know... and that is that I love you, Scarlett. In spite of you and me and the whole silly world going to pieces around us, I love you. Because we're alike. Bad lots, both of us. Selfish and shrewd. But able to look things in the eyes as we call them by their right names.

Scarlett: [struggles] Don't hold me like that!

Rhett Butler: [holds her tighter] Scarlett! Look at me! I've loved you more than I've ever loved any woman and I've waited for you longer than I've ever waited for any woman.
[kisses her forhead]

Makes me think of all the scenes that must have taken place over the last several years as lovers/spouses part to leave for Iraq or Afghanistan. At least Rhett & Scarlett didn't have children to worry about...

Great dramatic scene choice!

do we get to do this all the way until next saturday? say yes! this was my mother's most favorite story in all the world. i believe she read this book more than 20 times in her life. i myself, in rebellion as a teenager made sure i never read it. now it just feels too late and one i will pass on. i love the Time Traveler's Wife as the perfect romance.

I saw the movie when I was around six, I went with my grandparents and I still remember that night. Not many movies I remember like that. For good or bad I have always loved men who are like Rhett.

I was about 10 years old the first time I ever saw this movie and it was the first time I ever remember getting a "crush" on anyone. Ahhh, Rhett Butler, you dog you!
