Amazing photograph.
There is no escapism without imagination, and imagination is essential.

I love that photo! Can you tell us who did it?

Yes, it is. It was my only means to survive when the going got tough in Cuba in the 90s. To escape, to traipse through the pages of a book, or the canvas on the wall. Mine were the fresh and wet footprints on the photograph hanging from the wall in the latest exhibition in Havana in '92, or '93. Sometimes I would plunge headfirst into a song, a track that would call to my broken spirit and I would find a kaleidoscope world inside that tune, even if one had to swim back to the surface and face up to the fact that what had just happened was but a mirage.

Thanks for this post. I don't think it's good to escape the whole time. The only way we improve society is if we become that change ourselves, but I do think that once in a while when the walls close in, you had better make off for the rabbit's hole.

Greetings from london.

Great saying and what a magical photograph. Did you create the image?

Oh yes...nothing wrong with it. Escapism is a part of the human condition, and a lovely exercise for the imagination! Like anything else, I suppose, one should avoid using it in excess.
