I guess it is hard when you feel you don't look like your parents.
I remember buying Angelique and Nadalene ice cream at a store and a lady asking me if they were adopted. They aren't and I was so stunned that she would ask me. I was 'pardon me'. And I remember thinking what if they were? Why would someone ask that.
If I had a penny for everytime someone asked me that I would have at least 10 dollars.
It is amazing what people will ask about children. I had a daughter, and then a son and then was pregnant again.
A woman asked me why I was having another when I already had a son and a daughter. I told her it was because I wanted one of each (sort of a koan) and she got the weirdest confused look on her face. I just laughed!
Children are always precious and always complicated. this is a lovely look into what it might be like to be adopted but have early memories of the birth mother.
