Astonishing images of Ibaraki’s really big Buddha at the wonderful blog of Tokyo Times

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. ~Buddha

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. ~Buddha

Have compassion for all beings, rich and poor alike; each has their suffering. Some suffer too much, others too little. ~Buddha

Yoli, you have such a lovely gift for finding the images that reflect little pieces of our inner selves. I love looking at your blog, to find what may be looking back at me.

I understand that the Buddha was opposed to images and that it was only many years after his death that followers started using his image. I'm glad they did, otherwise I might never have been attracted to the teaching, but I like the purity, (or perhaps Puritanism), of a belief system without graven images.
