Chinese New Year falls on Thursday, February 3, 2011 — The Year of the Rabbit. According to Chinese traditional calendar, it is the Xin-Mao year. Xin (Metal) is the eighth of the ten celestial stems and Mao (Rabbit) is the fourth of the twelve terrestrial branches and marks the year of the Rabbit or Hare. Starting from Chinese new year 2011 date, this festival carries on for 15 days and ends up with the Lantern festival on the 15th day. Chinese festival celebrations spread the charm of this festival and are at their extreme level on the day of Lantern festival.
