Learning Mandarin Chinese

I have taken it upon myself to learn Mandarin. I am very excited and have been working hard. A friend of mine sent me a link where it states that to learn Mandarin fully, it can take you upwards of 20 years. The advise on that link is very good, see here: Mistakes when learning Chinese. I am not daunted. I am going to call it my 20 year project. I found this wonderful series on YouTube aside from having purchased a program that is very helpful. I will take formal classes later on when all three kids are in school. For now, these podcasts and video programs will have to do.

Good luck! I tried the Pimsleur's CDs and got stuck on #1 and pronunciations.

I am impressed! Congratulations on taking on a new task. It will be wonderful and I am certain you shall babble some Chinese soon enough. And a thousand thank you for your kind words. I am really touched.

This is amazing news! Learn with patience & perseverance and you'll do great eventually. 加油!:)

PS: You might want to try out Chinesepod.com. That was where I learned my basics before I chose to attend formal classes. :)
