I have revisited this post a few times before commenting, because it affects me in so many conflicting ways. For one thing, I can't decide whether I'm the candle or the mirror. I feel torn between the two. But...does it really matter?
The other way in which it affects me - much more pertinent - is that I see my daughter's future in these shots: her beauty seen through the scrim of others' perception. And that opens up all sorts of strange doors...How am I to feel about that? Proud? Fearful? Protective? Defensive? Thoughtful? Mourning? Adoring? Trepidatious?.........

You are the candle, dear Yoli.... To people that have never met you, nothing but kindness comes from you. Thank you,
Natalie
