For my Birdtweet

Little bird by Ann Wood

In my insomniac rounds I found my friend's troubling post on the chaos of life Bird Tweets: Day 192 Caught Between This And That . So I searched for some quotes for you to ponder my tweety friend. I hope you enjoy and that it gives you, if not some food for thought, at least a reason to smile.

The meaning of life; quotes by some very wise people:

Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee,
And I'll forgive Thy great big one on me.
~Robert Frost, "Cluster of Faith," 1962

I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it. ~Jack Handey

Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you're alive, it isn't. ~Richard Bach

I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day. ~Elwyn Brooks White

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." ~Erma Bombeck

Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian Anderson

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot. ~Ashleigh Brilliant

Life is like a blanket too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night. ~Marion Howard

Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told: "I am with you kid. Let's go." ~Maya Angelou

Look, I don't want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you're alive you've got to flap your arms and legs, you've got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive. ~Mel Brooks

When we are alone on a starlit night, when by chance we see the migrating birds in autumn descending on a grove of junipers to rest and eat; when we see children in a moment when they are really children, when we know love in our own hearts; or when, like the Japanese poet, Basho, we hear an old frog land in a quiet pond with a solitary splash - at such times the awakening, the turning inside out of all values, the "newness," the emptiness and the purity of vision that make themselves evident, all these provide a glimpse of the cosmic dance. ~Thomas Merton

I don't know how you do it, but you always find the most inspiring quotes.
I also love Ann Wood's birds (particularly this jaunty little pirate) but even more I love her cardboard castles and stitched-together sailing ships...so wonderful.

btw I never heard that particular Maya Angelou quote but I love it. Your quotes for today have given me an extra boost of joie-de-vivre with which to start this beautiful day...but then, me and my eternal optimism, I usually rise to the surface with a bubble of joy inside me. I think I need to be very thankful for that.

You are so insightful and creative. I love this blog. Thank you.

I might trade some of my sleep if only I could be so artistic in my insomnia.

i hadn't even known you had done this until today! and what a lovely expression of support too. i am just about to read these quotes but before i get the full benefit of the wisdom you have shared here i want to note that the main benefit is how you cause me to feel loved and cared for, which you are especially good at :)

i love ann wood. i have followed her little birdies for awhile now :) i like to think of myself as being a member of her flock.

it is the thomas merton that struck home the most. and maya angelou's humor is a comfort. all of them made me smile and reminded me that i am extraordinarily alive!

for some reason, not sure why, the mood of your quotes reminds me of a book i love called 'a path with heart.'

it says there when all is said and done what matters most is... 'did we love well?'

i'm trying to love well and too... to love myself.

thanks a bunch for such wise and funny sayings!

What beautiful quotes my friend...They touch the heart and give a glimpse into your own.... I think when we share things which move us...it gives others a glimpse into that which we are...

And you are so beautiful my friend,

This much I know,

With love to you, Maithri
